Yesterday, at about 7:00am or 8:00am, a pretty good sized turtle came out of the creek and started to dig two holes in my back yard. After about thirty minutes to an hour worth of digging, the turtle went back into the forest. Today, it came back and started to dig another hole, but gave up pretty fast. It then started to dig another hole in which it currently resides. I notice that the turtle s body is moving up and down sometimes with its back legs situated inside the hole. This makes me believe that it is laying eggs. However, its laying them in area that is not protected by shade nor is it hidden. We have a lot of deer, squirrels, raccoons, and other wildlife that will easily eat them or step on them inadvertently./nWe just built the house, so the lawn is still basically just top soil right now. I have purchased Kilz Odorless Spray and have sprayed 2 coats onto the floor. /n/nMy cat has not been allowed back into the room since the incident.
